Generation Charleston is the emerging leaders committee of the Charleston Area Alliance. Its mission is to engage and empower the Capital City's young talent to create a more vibrant and prosperous economy through community involvement, professional development and social networking.
The Charleston Area Alliance began its Generation Charleston initiative in early 2006. Originally named Young Professionals, the group has more than 900 members who have joined this initiative, which strives to attract and retain young professionals to the region, while focusing on fostering the next generation of leadership. Young talent is the future intellectual capital of any economy, and the Charleston Area Alliance is committed to creating both an economy and community that is and will be attractive to this group of professionals.
For 2010, the group has decided to focus on College Summit as its year-long community outreach project. Generation Charleston will raise funds for the project and provide volunteers for various tasks as the project develops.
Brooke Pauley of Maple Creative and Rob Rosano of the Clay Center for the Arts & Sciences are the 2010 Generation Charleston co-chairs, and they lead a group of 14 co-captains and seven work teams - Community Outreach, Professional Development, Economic Development, Public Policy, Special Events, Communications and Membership.
