Charleston Area Alliance names incoming President and CEO

May 21, 2024 – On behalf of the Charleston Area Alliance board of directors, we are pleased to announce Mara Boggs as the incoming President and CEO of the organization. Mara will join the Charleston Area Alliance later this year when she concludes her time with Senator Joe Manchin.
“When deciding who would be a great fit for this unique and challenging role, there was no clearer choice than Mara,” Alliance Board Chair Adam Krason said. “Her experience, work ethic, leadership and championship for our great state will take this organization to new levels and we could not be more excited to have her on board.”
Mara Boggs is a native of West Virginia, graduating from Keyser High School and West Virginia University. She is also an Iraq combat veteran, serving 13 years of active duty in the United States Army. Departing from active duty, Mara took her talents to Capitol Hill, and has served as the State Director for Senator Joe Manchin since 2014.
“This position will allow me to focus my professional efforts in the Charleston area, which is poised for significant growth and development,” Boggs said. Boggs’ dedication to both the nation and state is clear and her commitment to the community is inspiring. She is actively involved in community initiatives, and veteran organizations. Boggs currently resides in Charleston with her husband Ken, daughter Arabella and son Cole.
The Alliance – which brings together Kanawha County community and economic development with traditional chamber offerings – works to attract and retain innovative industries and workforce, revitalize urban spaces and improve the Kanawha Valley. The Alliance operates a business incubator at its Smith Street location. Its mission is to build a more vibrant community and prosperous economy.
